From the excellent public schools in the Dickinson Independent School District to quality preschools, private schools and colleges, residents of Lago Mar have access to the best education available for their children, ensuring future success.

School Districts

Lago Mar residents are served by highly regarded schools in the Dickinson Independent School District. This fast growing “Destination District” has 11 campuses, all earning “Met Standard” ratings from the Texas Education Agency – the highest available – with many schools earning coveted academic distinctions. The district also offers outstanding programs in band, choir, dance, drama and art and athletics.

Nearly $300 million has been invested in Dickinson ISD facilities in the past 15 years through four voter-approved bond issues. Seven out of the 11 schools were constructed within the past 10 years, while the remaining four have had extensive renovations and expansions during the same period.

The strength of McAdams Junior High’s academics and programs is evident in the awards and accolades the school has garnered. In 2014, more than half of the students that competed in the Galveston County Science Fair brought home awards. In addition to choir, the school offers art, band, yearbook and student council.

Dickinson High School students and staff have many reasons to brag. From 2013 to 2014, the number of Advanced Placement exams given at DHS increased by 50 percent and the number of students earning a passing score more than doubled. In addition to providing solid college preparation, the school boasts a strong athletics department including soccer, track, basketball and football. The Gator’s football team were district champions in 2014. The DHS Powerlifting Team were state champions the same year. The school offers a number of electives and fine arts programs, as well as clubs such as Business Professionals of America, Future Farmers of America and Texas Technology Students Association.
